2° FELLOWCRAFT

The Fellowcraft Degree represents the stage of manhood, in which a Mason is urged to develop his mind through education, symbolized by the Winding Staircase and the Seven Liberal Arts and Sciences. The working tools of this degree, the Square, Level, and Plumb, teach morality, equality, and uprightness of conduct. The candidate ascends to the Middle Chamber, where he receives the symbolic wages of Corn, Wine, and Oil, representing nourishment, refreshment, and joy. Having proven his proficiency, the Fellowcraft may request advancement to the Master Mason Degree, the crown of the Blue Lodge.
